Free Crochet Hat Pattern for Men

Follow this free crochet hat pattern for men and create a highly wearable, unisex beanie. This simple, attractive crochet beanie uses alternating single and double crochet stitches. sc3tog   single crochet three together, work like a sc decrease but over three stitches instead of two

Brim

***UPDATE: After some feedback many of you have said that the hat turned out rather large. The yarn I used is on the thinner side so check your gauge. If you want to make it smaller, make 70 rows for the brim and skip down to 70 for your decrease rows!***

Ch 9

Row 1: sc in the second ch from the hk, sc to end, turn

Row 2: ch1, sc in bl of each st, turn

Row 3 – 80: repeat row 2

sl st both the first and last row together, do not fasten off!

Body

Row 1: ch 1, 2 sc right before the bump at the top of every second row of your brim around, join with a sl st to your first st, turn (80 sc)

Row 2: ch 1, sc in first st, dc in next st, * sc in next st, dc in next st, repeat from * around, join with a slst to first st, turn (40 sc, 40 dc)

Row 3 – 15: repeat row 2

Row 16:* sc3tog, (dc in next st, sc in next st) 6 times, dc in next, repeat from * around, join with a slst to first st, turn (35 sc, 35 dc)

Row 17: repeat Row 2

Row 18: * sc3tog, (dc in next st, sc in next st) 5 times, dc in next, repeat from * around, join with a slst to first st, turn(30 sc, 30 dc)

Row 19: repeat Row 2

Row 20:* sc3tog, (dc in next st, sc in next st) 4 times, dc in next, repeat from * around, join with a slst to first st, turn (25 sc, 25 dc)

Row 21: repeat Row 2

Row 22: * sc3tog, (dc in next st, sc in next st) 3 times, dc in next, repeat from * around, join with a slst to first st, turn (20 sc, 20, dc)

Row 23: repeat Row 2

Row 24: * sc3tog, (dc in next st, sc in next st) twice, dc in next, repeat from * around, join with a slst to first st, turn (15 sc, 15 dc)

Row 25: repeat Row 2

Row 26: * sc3tog, dc in next st, sc in next st, dc in next, repeat from * around, join with a slst to first st, turn (10 sc, 10 dc)

Row 27: repeat Row 2

Row 28: *sc3tog, dc in next st, repeat from * around, join with a slst to first st, turn (5sc, 5 dc)

Fasten off but leave a long tail, weave through the stitches of your last row and cinch them shut. Sew the top together and weave in your ends.
